MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. — A 20-year-old man from Bradenton died after 3 vehicles crashed near Lakewood Ranch Blvd. and Gatewood Drive.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the crash happened Wednesday morning at 10:50 a.m.
The man was riding his motorcycle north on Lakewood Ranch Blvd. in the outside lane. He was approaching a driveway access at the 2600 block of Lakewood Ranch Blvd.
A second vehicle, a Subaru driven by an 83-year-old Lakewood Ranch man, was traveling westbound at the driveway access at 2603 Lockwood Ridge Blvd. According to the report, the man was attempting to turn south onto Lakewood Ranch Blvd.
Then a third vehicle, a Hyundai driven by a 25-year-old woman from Bradenton, approached the area while traveling in the inside lane.
The motorcyclist attempted to pass slower traffic by driving in the bicycle only lane. The Subaru then lawfully entered Lakewood Ranch Blvd. attempting to turn left, according to the report.
The motorcycle then crashed into the left side of the Subaru, causing the Bradenton motorcyclist to fall from the motorcycle and land in the roadway.
The Subaru rolled into the left front fender of the Hyundai, which was stopped due to the crash.
The Bradenton man was pronounced dead on the scene, according to FHP. The man from Lakewood Ranch man suffered serious injuries and the Bradenton woman was uninjured.
FHP said the crash remains an active investigation.
