TAMPA, Fla. – A 73-year-old Tampa man lost his life on the night of July 18th, 2024, after being struck by a car while crossing Florida Avenue. The incident occurred just north of 122nd Avenue at approximately 9:04 PM.
According to reports from the authorities, the man was operating a mobility scooter and attempted to cross the roadway when he entered the path of a southbound Hyundai Elantra driven by a 46-year-old Lutz man.
The impact of the collision resulted in serious injuries, and the scooter operator was transported to a local hospital, where he later passed away.
The driver of the Hyundai remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. Impairment does not appear to be a factor in the crash, and no charges have been filed at this time.
